Acropolis of Athens. The crown of Western civilization, the Acropolis rises 156 meters above Athens and anchors a UNESCO World Heritage site whose temples — including the 5th-century BC Parthenon — have defined architecture ever since. Timed-entry tickets (€30 in high season) are now mandatory and must be booked in advance online.
Acropolis Museum. One of the world's great archaeological museums, housing more than 4,250 objects from the Athenian Acropolis and its slopes in a dramatic contemporary building designed to frame the Parthenon itself. The rooftop restaurant offers unobstructed views of the hill above.

Monastiraki Flea Market & Square. The messy, glorious crossroads of central Athens frames a perfect Acropolis view and hosts a daily flea market that explodes every Sunday into the largest second-hand bazaar in Greece — antiques, vinyl records, vintage clothing, art, and collectibles spilling across cobbled lanes.
Mount Lycabettus. At 277 meters, Athens' highest hill delivers a 360-degree panorama that puts the Acropolis, Piraeus port, and the Saronic Gulf all in one frame. Take the funicular from Kolonaki or hike up in 30 minutes; sunset is the prime time as the Acropolis and stadium light up below.
Temple of Olympian Zeus & Hadrian's Arch. The largest temple ever attempted in ancient Greece took 638 years to complete and once boasted 104 Corinthian columns; 15 remain standing in haunting grandeur. Adjacent Hadrian's Arch marks the boundary between ancient Athens and the Roman city built by the emperor who finished the temple in 132 AD.
